The Knockout
When our team at the Ohio Democratic Party first planned our ten-city “Knockout” tour to share our strategy to knock out our Republican opponents for the next decade, we hoped we would get a good response. But in city after city, the “Knockout” tour generated a staggering and enthusiastic reaction. Overall, more than 2,500 activists have packed into union halls, historic theaters, and other venues to hear our message and to commit themselves to volunteering for victory at all levels in 2010. The attendance numbers are shocking:
- 503 activists at our kickoff event in Columbus
- 415 in Cincinnati
- 350 at one event Youngstown, 100 at another
- 313 in Cleveland
- 234 in Akron – more than double the audience that then-VP candidate Joe Biden received at the same venue in September 2008, and
- Hundreds more in Maumee, Dayton, Chillicothe, and Cambridge -- despite torrential rainstorms, tornado warnings, and other challenges.
In every city and town, the people we met reflected Ohio’s diversity and all came away energized and ready to usher in a new era of progress and prosperity in Ohio.
