LGBT Caucus
About the LGBT Caucus
The Ohio Democratic Party’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Caucus is devoted to advancing equal rights for all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. The Caucus is part of the Democratic Party and supports Democratic candidates. It draws its strength from a statewide network of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and straight Democrats who are working to realize the Party’s overall mission.
In the 2009 municipal elections, for instance, the Ohio Democratic Party’s LGBT Caucus supported 13 openly gay and lesbian candidates for local offices across Ohio. We achieved historic success by electing 10 of those candidates.
By connecting Democrats committed to issues affecting the LGBT community, the Caucus will build electoral support for like-minded Democratic officials and candidates. Networking through political and social events will help build and maintain support for LGBT issues.
Whether you’re a political veteran or a new organizer, you are needed in this important fight for equality. We will train you to be an effective activist and provide you with the skills and resources necessary to host successful house parties, talk to undecided voters, and recruit volunteers – it’s easy! If you’re already a seasoned activist, we’ll connect you to other like-minded folks who are committed to electing fair-minded Democrats in Ohio and advancing the mission of LGBT equality.
