Ohio Democratic Party Calls on Kasich, Portman to Reject Boehner’s Wall St. Reform Repeal
COLUMBUS – Ohio Democratic Party Chairman Chris Redfern called on Congressmen John Kasich and Rob Portman to reject House Minority Leader John Boehner’s proposal to repeal the comprehensive Wall Street reform passed by the U.S. Senate today. In an interview last month, Boehner also suggested that the proposed Wall Street reform legislation amounted to “killing an ant with a nuclear weapon.” [Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, 6/29/10]
“At a time when Americans are losing their homes and seeing good jobs go overseas because of greed on Wall Street, John Kasich and Rob Portman need to let Ohioans know that they won’t stand by John Boehner’s proposal to repeal legislation that will hold Wall Street accountable,” said Ohio Democratic Party Chairman Chris Redfern. “But, given the time Congressman Kasich spent on Wall Street and the time Congressman Portman spent doing Wall Street’s bidding in Washington, it’s hard to imagine they would not agree with John Boehner’s defense of Wall Street.”
“Ohioans have had enough of the trickle-down economic policies supported by Congressman Kasich, Congressman Portman and Congressman Boehner,” Redfern continued, “and they understand that what works for Wall Street doesn’t work for Ohio.”
